After multiple delays including a dead computer and many lost files, Bookworm has finally finished the second installment of his Outnumbered By Colors 3 part EP project. Part 2 is subtitled “Saturation” and this 6 track picks up neatly where he left off with the first volume – displaying more of his signature melodic sound and strong, syncopated beat construction.

Outnumbered By Colors: Saturation maintains a unified sound while branching out into a number of different tempos ranging from the slower hip hop beat in “Non Interlude” all the way up to a swiftly paced drum and bass track “Antidote” featuring soulful vocal work by Chattanooga Tennessee’s very own Beck Ribeiro.

Kidsmeal, is no stranger to his fans. He brings a unique blend of turntablism and electronic music to countless shows around the Southeast and beyond. Since his 2009 release, Secret Recipe, he has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the game. For this podcast, he joined forces with his brother, Sam, contributing original beats along with scratches and cuts. KDSML’s track, Pretendo, is the first of many new beats he has spent the last year producing. This mixtape gives fans the exclusive opportunity to hear these tracks for the very first time.

Too often we hear producers and their beats criticized for sounding the same. Sam Shacklock has spent the last 10 years producing, mixing, and engineering tracks of his own along with those of other artists in the Nashville area with the objective of avoiding sounding like anyone else. Since 2009, he’s been the production architect behind the electronic/hip-hop crossover duo, Sam and Tre. In addition to this effort, he has spent the last few years accumulating a stash of his own beats that span the gamut of genres in electronic music. This podcast exhibits not only Sam’s skills as a producer, but also his abilities as an engineer. The tracks on this mix are part of a future project Sam plans to release as a solo artist, but fans of his music should expect a fresh release from Sam and Tre in the very near future.

Out of nowhere, this young talent came onto the the playing field swinging. His debut album entitled “Albumin” was released under the independent Saturate Records imprint with much fanfare, generating buzz across internet, eventually landing him a writeup on XLR8R in addition to the countless blogs that also carried the story. As word of his music spread, he was asked to perform at LA’s now world famous Low End Theory where he shared the bill with such scene giants as Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer and Daddy Kev.

In addition to the main shows there will be a number of smaller events happening around town throughout the weekend and this is one not to miss. Friday the 28th, Jables will be hitting Modaddy’s (located right next to the Orange Peel) with a live 404 set of his trademark bass heavy, off beat hip hop.

He will be joined by our good friend Matt “Fast Nasty” Keaton who has been tearing up crowds across the south for quite a while. The show starts at 9pm and the cover is only $7. Worth every penny and we hope to see you there.

Star Slinger is a UK based Producer and DJ. He has so far released one LP, two EP’s and a bunch of singles. He counts Diplo, Jamie xx & Teebs amongst his fans and has provided licensed remixes for Gold Panda, Childish Gambino, The Go! Team, The Morning Benders & Broken Social Scene to name a few.

Shlohmo is an LA beatmaker who is known for creating hip-hop influenced deep and lo-fi soundscapes and playing spontaneous DJ sets featuring lots of exclusive reworks. New LP “Bad Vibes” just dropped so expect a fresh set.

Shigeto is an Ann Arbor based beatmaker and instrumentalist. His sound is a signature blend of lush experimental hip-hop and deep silky soundscapes. His LP “Full Circle” dropped a few months ago and it is off the chain.

This will also be Bookworm’s first Asheville appearance since his Orange Peel gig with Big Gigantic in February of this year and a lot has changed with his live performance in that time. This should not be missed.

Tickets are available online here or can be purchased in person at The Garage at Biltmore in Asheville, NC. People are encouraged to buy in advance as the venue capacity is limited.
